Standing at 736m (2,415ft) young members of Goole Mountaineering Club took a well earned rest at the summit of Whernside the highest of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.
44 people young and old made the trip to the Yorkshire Dales in June 2010. The group made their assent east along the side of the Ribblehead viaduct, Settle to Carlisle railway, via smithy hill. The walkers then made their way west up knoutberry haw splitting into several groups of mixed abilty. At the summit the group had a good rest with time for sandwiches and drinks before returning back down Bruntscar passing Chapel-le-Dale, finishing at the Station inn. The younger members had a well earned Orange juice, and the adults managed a couple of pints of Black Sheep. A great day out!
