Peh-y-ghent 27th February 2011

On Sunday 27th February Goole Mountaineering Club made a winter ascent of Pen-y-ghent. The group left Goole at 7 am and started the climb from Horton in Ribblesdale, via Brackenbottom at 10 am, with the summit covered in mist and cloud, They were not expecting good views from the summit, standing at 694 m (2,277 ft) however by noon the mist had cleared and spectacular views of the Yorkshire Dales and as far out to the Lake District could be seen. On the descent the group moved across Pen-y-ghent side and passed the famous Hull Pot waterfall by this time the cloud had cleared and the walk was finished in glorious Yorkshire sunshine. should anyone feel the need for exercise and fresh air please visit the diary page for future outings, all are welcome young and old and the group cater for all abilties.
